The Wonderful Wolves have had a fantastic week! The first part of which is documented in the blog 'A Wonderful start to theme week'.
On Wednesday, we worked with local sculptor, Mick Kirkby-Geddes, making dinosaurs from wire and mod-roc. It was a tricky process but the children persevered well and the end results are ggggrrrrrreat!
Our learning about fossils has seen us invesigate the properties of different rocks. We've studied igneous, sedimentary and metaporphic rocks in detail and should now be able to name at least one type of rock in each category.
The latter part of the week was spent painting our clay and mod-roc dinosaurs as well as the fossils we made on Tuesday with Steve the dinosaur expert.
We studied the life of Mary Anning, who was an English fossil collector and paleontologist. She is remembered for being one of the greatest fossil hunters to ever live. We acted out the story of her life in our theme week assembly.
