This half term we are linking Science to our topic 'Explorers'. This week we decided to find out 'Do bigger rockets have more power?'. The children worked in four groups and each group had a different sized 'rocket'. We then decided that we needed something to fly out of our rockets so the children made some space mice. Each group took it in turns to see how far the mice would fly and we measured the distance using a metre stick. All the children predicted that the largest rocket would have the most power, however we were surprised to find that the smallest rocket was the best. Wehad lots of interesting discussions around air pressure, air resistance and gravity and the children already knew lots about this. Well done everyone!
