This week, the children were introduced to our new topic: water.
In literacy we have been looking at the story 'Rainbow Fish'. We have discussed the story and its main themes, including why the other fish didn't want to be friends with Rainbow Fish any longer. We have thought about times when we have been happy and sad and how our actions can effect other people. The children have really enjoyed learning to sing 'I can sing a rainbow' and with the help of Mr Tumble, we are even learning how to sign the different colours. We have also created our own artistic impressions of 'Rainbow Fish' and these will be used to create some beautiful displays both in our classroom and in the school corridor...keep your eyes peeled for them next week.
In Maths our number of the week was 16 and our main focus has been capacity. We learnt what 'capacity' means and developed our understanding of the terms full, hall full and empty. We also compared the capacity of different containers.
On Tuesday it was Shrove Tuesday and the children all had an excellent time making pancakes and an even better time eating them!!
We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday and the staff were blown away with the fantastic costumes that the children wore. Thank you so much for taking the time to prepare such fantastic costumes. The children enjoyed looking at each others costumes and talking about who they were dressed as and from what book. The children drew pictures of their character and wrote simple sentences.
In PE we developed our throwing and catching skills with Mrs Koltuk and Josh from Project Sport helped us to develop our ball control skills, teaching us how to dribble the ball.
