The Terrific Tigers have had a great first week. The children were excited to learn that our topic is "colours."
In literacy we began to look at the story of Elmer. We discussed why Elmer is special and thought about what makes us unique. We also looked at speech bubbles and the children recorded sentences to show what Elmer might be saying.
In numeracy we were learning about positional language such as behind, in front, on and under etc. The children really enjoyed meeting Mrs Koltuk's mischievous monkey and were able to identify where he was hiding.
The children enjoyed exploring paint and in particular finding out what happens when we add white paint to another colour. Further creative activities included painting a large Elmer and designing our own colourful Elmer inspired elephants.
In PE we had lots of fun with Josh developing our hockey skills.
The reception children have received spelling books. Please practise the 20 spellings as often as possible and the children will be tested on 10 each week.
We have begun to sort out reading books for the nursery children who will start in reception in September. Initially the books will contain no words. Please look at the pictures with your child, discussing who the characters are, where they are, how they are feeling, what they might be saying and thinking etc. Encourage your child to relate this to their own experiences...and remember to make it a fun and enjoyable experience.
Please note: Due to there being no forest school on Monday of next week, we will be having a session on Friday 10th May. We will return to Minday sessions the following week.
Please take a look at what we have been up to...
