Terrific Tigers - Half Term Overview

Published: 5th June 2016

This half term, our topic will be Under the Sea.

In Literacy, our Reception children will be working towards the Early Learning Goal.

Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible.

We will be writing instructions, postcards, labels, captions, stories, poems and lots more!

Nursery children will be working on Phase 2 sounds, practising writing their name and looking at letter formation.

In our maths sessions, we will be focusing on counting and place value, addition, subtraction, capacity, time and money.

PE sessions will be run by Project Sport. These sessions will take place on Tuesday afternoons. We will also have a PE session Thursday afternoons, which will focus on key skills in PE.

As part of our topic work, we will be looking at different sea creatures, oceans and cold and warm climates. We will also be looking at floating and sinking, which will include lots of problem solving. As always, there will be lots of different opportunities for arts and crafts, with a sea based theme.

Library sessions will now take place on Monday afternoons. Please send your child's book in so they can swap it.

Polite Reminder

Please ensure your child's homework book is sent in every Thursday and spelling books are brought to school every Friday.

Thank you.
